A ROMANTIC SUSPENSE NOVEL
The perfect combination of thrilling suspense, romance and surprise!
Lynette Eason keeps readers suspended in the mystery and fast-paced action of Active Defense, the third book in her Danger Never Sleeps series. With fantastic, exciting characters and a plot that will keep you guessing, she delivers another great read to kick off the new year!
She's used to life-or-death situations.
She just didn't expect them to follow her home.
When former field surgeon Heather Fontaine returns from a party to find that someone has broken into her house--and threatened her friends--she assumes it is the stalker who has been creeping her out. She hopes to find safety and peace of mind by leaving the city and hiding out in a small town. But trouble follows her even there.
Luckily, a stalker isn't the only one observing Heather. Travis Walker has been secretly watching out for her for weeks. As owner of his own security agency, it's what he does. Together, Travis and Heather must figure out who wants her dead--and why--before it's too late.

★★★★★ | Eason has once again delivered an exciting, captivating story! The Danger Never Sleeps series just keeps getting better! I thoroughly enjoyed Active Defense, the newest book in Lynette Eason’s series.
With a heart-pounding opening and surprising twists and turns, this fast-paced story kept me engaged, entertained and on the edge of my seat! I couldn’t put it down!
Eason’s characters are relatable, strong and heroic. I love the depth of the faith and friendship her cast of characters shares. There’s something admirable and encouraging about getting to know them and watch as they overcome their pasts and struggles. I absolutely loved Heather and her grit. Her fierce determination to be strong, protect her friends and face danger head on was truly inspiring. Travis was the perfect hero, with his tender, compassionate soul and protective determination. The chemistry between these two added just the right amount of romance to a very high-octane story. I can’t go without adding a quick shout-out to Rhyker’s character too, as he simply stole my heart!
I like how the characters of these books interconnect and the stories build off of each other. It is also refreshing to read stories that feature heroines who have served in the military, as that’s something we don’t find often in Christian fiction. I do recommend reading this series in order, however, it’s not mandatory as each story stands alone. Currently, I’m eagerly anticipating Hostile Intent, Book 4, in the Danger Never Sleeps series!

Having read the other two books in this series, I found Active Defense to be my favorite so far. It offered far more excitement and higher stakes. In addition, the ending completely surprised me which was a fantastic bonus and speaks to how well written this particular story is. I believe Eason does an excellent job of balancing suspense, romance, faith and strong characters in her books and as a result, I highly recommend this series to those enjoy romantic suspense and thrillers by other authors like Dani Pettrey, Susan May Warren or Ronie Kendig. This story was clean and is appropriate for mature readers 16+.
