Looking for the perfect Halloween craft this year?
Try these DIY Fluffy Ghosts!
You and your kids can create adorable, little door-hanging ghosts as a simple craft in under 5 minutes with just a handful of household supplies! Make one, two or ten! They’re so easy and the perfect craft for spooky season.
It is Halloween week and instead of hand sewing a hundred tiny sequins on my daughter’s halloween costume, I’m hiding in my office, snacking on candy corn. Because, really, sewing (especially by hand) just isn’t my thing…
Now, kids crafts that can be pulled together in under 5 minutes, are my thing!
If you’re looking for an adorable, simple craft to keep your littles occupied this week, I’ve got the perfect thing for you - fluffy ghosts!
This craft only requires a handful of supplies and I’d wager you have most of them lying around your house right now. The craft is super easy for the youngest ones in your group; in fact, I made it with my daughter when she was still in her high chair, around age 18 months old and it was as much of a hit then as it was this year at age 3.
Plus, it’s a simple DIY craft for the older kiddos too!
Craft Overview:
Ages 2+ (with supervision)
Set up in under five minutes!
Multi-sensory and encourages fine motor skills
Just a handful of supplies needed!
What You’ll Need:
White cardstock (or the inside of a recycled box, preferably white)
Pencil
Sharpie marker
Tape, or stapler
Scissors
Cotton balls
Glue
Googley Eyes (optional)
Steps:
Using a pencil, on a piece of white paper or cardboard, free draw the shape of a ghost
Using scissors, cut out the ghost shape.
Staple, or tape, a bit of string in a loop to the back side of the ghost.
Turn the ghost face up and apply washable glue (we like this glue from Crayola!) to the entire front side of the ghost.
Take cotton balls and gently pull them apart to “stretch” them, then layer them over the shape of the ghost, covering all the paper and glue, right up to the edges. .
Using a sharpie marker on white paper, draw and cut out a mouth shape. (Optional: Use a pink marker to make circles for cheeks and cut those out of paper too).
Glue googley eyes (or ones you’ve drawn on paper and cut out), the mouth and the optional cheeks onto the ghost.
Allow glue to dry for 15-30 minutes
Voila!
Now you have an adorable, fluffy door-hanging ghost! My daughter loved hers so much, it’s been hanging on her closet door knob in her room all week. It’s super cute and she loved the sensory input this craft offered between the glue and sticky cotton balls. Such a fun craft and so easy!

KIDS ACTIVITY
Build An Ocean Theme Coral Reef Sensory Tray - Invitation to Play and Learn
Children will LOVE this exciting, hands-on activity that is both sensory based and educational! My preschool-age daughter and I loved building a coral reef out of dry, colored pasta noodles and sand play dough during our summer unit study of the ocean and marine life.
