About This Book:
I turned to him, and he winked at me. Winked! We needed clear lines in place between us. We would not be flirty friends. We'd be friends, period. The sooner I made that distinction, the better.
Forty-year-old Kate Landry's carefully planned life has become as messy as the powdered sugar on her famous beignets. Juggling the responsibilities of running her café, raising her teenage niece, and the emotional baggage from her breakup, Kate finds her world once again turned upside down when her first-ever crush, Micah Guidry, returns to town as the hunky local librarian.
As Kate struggles to implement her plans to expand her café amid the New Orleans Mardi Gras madness and the meddling of her conniving ex-fiancé, Micah becomes the unwitting hero of her misadventures, stirring up feelings she thought she'd long buried. How can falling in love in the Big Easy be this hard?
"Smiles on every page! I loved that both characters were older than most heroes and heroines. . . . Ideal for Christian fiction readers who enjoy rom-coms!"

This adorable, fantastic new release from Rebekah Millet is everything I hoped it would be, and more! With the spicy flair of a New Orleans setting and hilarious, heartwarming undertones, readers will dive into the story of restaurant owner, Kate Landry. Kate’s doing her best while raising her adopted, teenage niece and trying to keep her deceased sister’s dreams and memory alive while stumbling into a new love and dealing with a annoying ex and a crazy parrot all at the same time. When a fryer on the fritz, the flu and gun-toting Grandma come into play, Kate takes on several new challenges all at once.
I smiled my way through this story! From the witty, clever and hilarious sarcasm to the heartwarming antics of both lovable characters and side characters (pets and animals included!), Millet delivered a delightful story that I simply couldn’t put down. From cover to cover, she touches on a wide range of emotions with a beautifully woven story of what happens when things don’t go quite according to plan.
I adored Kate, her niece Hayley and of course, Micah. Each character was well-crafted and charming, bringing something unique to the story. I loved that so many of the characters had their own quirks and nuances, making them interesting and oftentimes relatable. There’s a rich faith thread to the story that offers depth and reward without being overpowering. There’s also a sweet, tender and hilarious blossoming romance that at times had me swooning and falling more in love with the characters, with each turn of the page.
Overall, a must read for 2025 and perhaps one of my top ten recommendations this year!
