About This Book:

Every family has its secrets. Josephina "Joey" Harris wouldn't mind if her family still had a few of their own after a lawsuit tarnishes their name. When an opportunity opens to become a temporary keeper of a decommissioned lighthouse on a North Carolina island, she takes the opportunity to escape the scrutiny of her small town to oversee its restoration.

Soon Joey discovers strange notes tucked deep in the crevices of the lighthouse's old stone walls--pages torn from a keeper's log recounting harrowing rescues at sea. When things start to go amiss on the island, locals are convinced that it is the ghost of the lighthouse keeper and his daughter who were lost at sea during World War II.

As Joey sifts through decades of rumors and legends and puts together the pieces of the past, a love story emerges--one that's clearly not over yet.

MY REVIEW: ★★★★★ 5/5

Between the Sound and Sea is the kind of story that lingers in your heart long after the last page. Set against the remote beauty of the Outer Banks—a place that holds personal meaning for me—this novel weaves together mystery, second chances, and healing in a way that felt both atmospheric and intimate.

I was drawn into the story by the intrigue surrounding the lighthouse and its keeper and I loved how author Amanda Cox masterfully blended both past and present, threading in pieces of WWII history along with (fictional) coastal lore. Joey, Walt and Finn are rich, multi-layered characters that I adored and won't forget about any time soon.

There’s a touch of romance, a hint of faith and a richness to the relationships that made the story feel like the slow bloom of something beautiful. The secondary characters were as endearing as the lead characters and the heart and humor tucked into the pages made this the perfect weekend read. If you enjoy coastal settings, emotional depth and stories that invite you to reflect and rest, this one is a treasure you don't want to miss!
