I love when I see an idea on Pinterest that I just have to try!

This most recent Valentine's Day, my husband and I discussed not purchasing expensive gifts for each other this year in lieu of buying gifts or taking a trip for our wedding anniversary instead.  I stuck to that commitment and he did not (he is so sweet!).

So with saving money in mind, I browsed my Pinterest boards for some inspiration on something I could make for him to celebrate Valentine's Day.  I came across this pin from DollarStoreCrafts.com and knew this is something I had to do.

Wood Burned Flirty Wooden Spoons - a DIY Craft

This project was so simple.  I started by using a No. 2 pencil to freehand the phrases on the handles of the spoons while my wood burner warmed up. Then I simply traced what I had sketched out with the wood burner. I've been obsessed with my wood burner lately and have used it for a lot of projects in the last year or so.  This one is probably one of my favorites though!

What you'll need:

  • Wooden Spoons with a thick handle (I bought mine at Dollar Tree)

  • Pencil or stamps for your design

  • Wood Burner (nearly any hardware or craft store sells them)

Note: If you don’t own a wood burner, you can easily make these wooden spoons with a Sharpie marker!

Thanks to the blogger over at DollarStoreCrafts for the idea, tips, and tutorial! It was a smashing hit.
