Published by The Good Book Co.
A Brand New Chapter Book, Just In Time for Summer Reading!
In this relatable story, Abigail is delighted to spend her summer hanging out with elegant, imaginative, up-for-anything Maggie! But, to Abigail's disappointment, Maggie isn't allowed to come to Bible Club. In fact, it turns out that talking about Jesus is banned in Maggie's house. So how can Abigail share Jesus' love with Maggie in other ways?
ABOUT THIS BOOK:
What does it look like for kids to share the gospel with their friends? Join 10-year-old Abigail as she discovers God's power to save and learns about showing Christ's love to others in word and deed.
Alongside Abigail, readers will…
Enjoy summer experiences like building a lighthouse, competing to win ice cream and splashing in a pool
Navigate emotions common to sharing the gospel with unbelievers, like hope, frustration, fear and joy
Discover what it means that Jesus' love first shines into our hearts to save us and then shines through us to others.
Kids will be inspired to consider the challenges and joys of sharing faith with others, as well as to be fervent in prayer and persevering in hope as they participate in the Great Commission. This fun, exciting novel is the fifth in the Abigail series!
My Thoughts:
Over the last year, my daughter and I have really enjoyed the Abigail series and this newest release is another great addition. This sweet chapter book takes ten year old Abigail on a summer adventure of growing, learning and maturing in her faith. When the summer starts out a little boring and lonely, Abigail gets better acquainted Maggie, a schoolmate she wants to invite to Bible club, that is, until she learns Maggie isn’t allowed to go.
With adventure, silliness, Imagination and play, this book takes Abigail on a journey of following the rules, doing the right thing, and sharing the love and light of Jesus in a creative way, even if it’s not perfect. As a parent, I appreciated how Abigail tried and failed a few times. She makes mistakes and learns from them, but also really tries hard to do what is right. She loves her friend well without compromising her faith and she seeks wisdom from adults and turns to prayer, setting a great example as the main character. I also liked the encouraging and supportive role that the adults in Abigail’s story had.
In my opinion, this chapter book is best suited for third grade readers and above.
Overall, a great read that supports faith building and evangelism in kids. There’s a sweet message of friendship, loving others well and remaining steadfast in doing what is right. This is a series we happily recommend and eagerly look forward to reading together!
