MY REVIEW: ★★★★★ 5/5
Once again, Gabrielle Meyer has masterfully delivered a time-slip novel that completely swept me away. From the very first chapter, I was hooked—drawn into a story that dances between two pivotal time periods in London’s history: the late 1800s during the terrifying reign of Jack the Ripper, and the late 1930s as Europe teeters on the brink of WWII. The mystery, suspense, and touch of macabre surrounding the Jack the Ripper storyline gave the plot intrigue, while the alternating timelines kept the pace fresh and exciting, making the story hard to put down!
What stood out to me in this book is what I adore about Meyer's books: the balance between history, romance, and deep, spiritual themes. The threads of faith, especially the reminder that we aren’t in control of our own destiny, resonated with me. The romance was tender and compelling and the characters were wonderful, as always. This story offered a beautiful picture of sacrificial love as well. The time travel element was not only fascinating, but so well done that I had no trouble transitioning between eras. I didn’t want it to end!
Overall, this is a story with rich characters, surprising twists, and a storyline that blends history, mystery, and heart into truly a standout read that I highly recommend!
