The Importance of Memory Keeping & Documenting Daily Life

Hi friends!  Today, I'm back to share a little bit about my passion for memory keeping and why I believe everyone should do what they can, when they can, to document daily life.

On Saturday I shared the following quote in the announcement of my first weekly photo / story prompt.

It does not matter how or where you share your story. What matters is that you document it.

Why is this important?  Well, let's talk about it.  Let's say you're a busy mom who's balancing work, home, and kids. Life is flying by as you realize your baby who was in diapers yesterday is now turning five years old and starting kindergarten. Where did the time go?  Life has a way of passing us up without us ever getting a chance to slow down and think about it, let alone document it. But when those special moments do happen-- you want to freeze time and savor it.

Taking time out to record your life as it happens is an important part of memory keeping, whether you're a mom, a wife, a career woman, a single gal, or a teen/young person.  Regardless of what point you are at in life, some of you don't have time to sit down and write a diary of what happens every day or take a "photo of the day" to keep up with the demands of memory keeping.  Some of you don't even get a chance to pick up the camera unless its a family vacation or someone's birthday party.

But you want to change that and so do I.  My new weekly prompt is something attainable, something designed to make you think about your daily life, grab a photo of it, and write down a little bit about what's happening right now.

This week's prompt is #MorningRoutine.

Recording life is important because as time goes on memories fade or the way you remember it changes. Recording will help you remember the way things were at that moment. It's also nice to see how time changes a person. I document through photographs and journaling. I am new to Project Life and figuring out my style so I can make scrapbooks to record life now. I'm looking forward to this weekly prompt because it gives me something specific to focus on, especially when I feel like nothing important or cool happened during this week. Sometimes I also need some help figuring out what to document during the week.

Crafting and documenting about our life together is very important to me. My scrapbooking journey began about 12 years ago with traditional scrapbooking. I still continue that, but I also started Project Life as well. I think its so important to document the daily things. The things that seem mundane, but in fact are not. They are part of what makes you and your family unique and special. I'm really looking forward to #This Week because I love photos. I really really do. However, I've become burnt out on one of the things I love most...Taking Photos. These weekly prompts will help give me a little push in the right direction and take some of the pressure off of being original and creative all the time. So, I'm looking forward to it. I want to feel the joy of taking photos again.
