8 True Stories From the Bible

By Steph Williams, illustrated by Steph Williams

Published by The Good Book Co.

ABOUT THIS BOOK:

How many people did Jesus feed with one boy's lunch?

Why did a dad run down a road?

What happened when Jesus's disciples stopped some children who wanted to talk to him?

And why did Jesus die on a cross?

Enjoy reading eight Gospel stories, retold in a faithful and fun way for 2-4-year-olds. Toddlers and preschoolers will love the colorful, exciting illustrations, and older ones can get to grips with the "extra bits" that go deeper into each story.

This hardback collection of eight stories from the "Little Me, Big God" series is a great addition to any young child's bookshelf or children's ministry.

My Thoughts:

A fun, quirky way to share Bible stories, Jesus’ parables and miracles and death on the cross with young readers. I believe this collection is best geared towards preschoolers and kindergartners as the stories are very simple. My energetic six year old stayed engaged in the stories because they’re short, easy to understand and told in an entertaining manner. The illustrations are eye-catching and vibrant in color.

I like that this contained 8 stories in one book as it was easy to read in one sitting, but also could be broken down into separate sittings. Each story offers a little more in-depth reading at the end for older readers, further explaining the Biblical truth and giving Scripture references which are helpful for digging deeper.

The last story - the story of the cross and Jesus’ Resurrection - did not contain the steps of repentance but held a rather lightly glossed over “anyone who believes in God can be friends with Him” message. I wish this had been done differently.

Overall, cute and unconventional with good truths! Worth the money if you’re looking for something fun and different, maybe to read on the go or before bed but not necessarily a long term keeper.
