The Day God Made You by Rory Feek, Illustrated by Malgosia Piatkowska

In this empowering book, Grammy Award–winning singer and songwriter Rory Feek of Joey+Rory encourages children that God made them unique creations. Your children or grandchildren will love cuddling up with you to discover how God delighted over each and every detail of their lives and personalities as He created them--from the shape of their eyes to the sound of their laughter. The Day God Made You also reminds preschoolers and elementary-aged children that God knew their families, their friends, their tears, their gifts, and even their dreams and hopes from the very beginning.

My Review: Oh, this precious story book brought all the joyful tears to my eyes! What a sweet celebration of a child’s life this book is. I loved that it instills the belief that God knew a child before they were even formed in the womb. A book where children can find comfort and peace in the fact they are known and loved, that they are a unique and delightful creation… Reminding little readers that God knows them inside and out and loves them for who they are is something that cultivates a deeply rooted faith, a sense of purpose and grounds young hearts and minds. In addition, this story book uplifts and encourages children to dream, hope and love big. For that aspect alone, this book is a great addition to a child’s bookshelf!

The book also celebrates diversity and disabilities in its lovely and creative illustrations while offering soft, lyrical words that make the story flow gently and happily. As a parent, this is a definite go-to story book to encourage my daughter and reinforce the beautiful things we want to teach in our home. As an adoptive family, I especially love that it teaches my daughter that she’s known, loved and was created exactly the way God intended her to be, knowing all that her life means and will mean to those around her in her future.

This book would make an excellent birthday or holiday gift as well as an adoption/baby shower gift!
