Blurb Photo Book | Documenting the Story of a Photography Business
Printed photo books are quickly becoming one of my favorite ways to document a specific memory, trip, or event. I love the focus they bring on photos, surrounded by crisp white pages and words, telling stories that are very important to me. To me, that minimal aspect is very appealing.

Some of you may know that I am a professional photographer. At the young age of 23, I started and ran my own portrait photography business, specializing in pet photography. I spent much of my time volunteering for local theater and charities, diving into many different opportunities and coming into my own as a result of my entrepreneurship. Photography is most definitely a passion of mine, so this business was a dream come true. However, as many of you know, running a business, especially one in addition to other work, can be taxing. When my husband and I began to desire a family, I decided it would be a good time to put my photography business on hold, refocus on my full time job and alleviate some of the pressures running a business put on me.
As I was taking down the website I had so lovingly created over the years, I realized that I really wanted to document this huge part of my life. After all, this was not only a business I started but endless hours of hard work, dedication and an outpouring of passion. I thought it was worthy of being documented.
For several weeks, I contemplated how I wanted to document this story. I decided to screen shot my website and stitched the shots together in Photoshop Elements, saving them as .jpeg images. Then, I spent an afternoon on Google Docs telling the story, typing paragraph after paragraph. Finally, I gathered my favorite client images from over the years and dropped them into a folder on my desktop.
With the help of Blurb and their user-friendly online software, I built a beautiful album in one evening. I finalized my project, chose the cover, sent it off to be ordered and anxiously awaited it's arrival. This was my first Blurb order and I am happy to report, I was blown away by the ease of creation to the quality of the product and quick turn around. I'm so grateful to have this huge part of my life documented in such a gorgeous album.
I am excited to work with Blurb again in the future. I think their albums will make a lovely travel book or family heritage album. In addition, I'm especially intrigued with their magazine options! Sp many possibilities for memory keepers such as ourselves.
